Locations:

The public was able to see and comment on the proposed concepts on display at the nearby Malcolm X Library and Jackie Robinson YMCA during regular business hours. The concepts were on display at several community events and meetings that took place over the July 11 through July 31, 2022 time frame.

Artists and Design Concepts for the Public Art at the Southeastern Live Well Center

In 2010, the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors adopted the Live Well San Diego vision of a region that is Building Better Health, Living Safely and Thriving. It aligns the efforts of individuals, organizations, and government to help all 3.3 million San Diego County residents live well.

The new County of San Diego SELWC will provide a single stop for residents to receive a variety of services in a convenient and modern location. It will also serve as a hub for community meetings, educational opportunities, and workforce training. Services include:

• The Family Resource Center assisting county residents seeking housing, medical insurance coverage, food, and nutrition assistance, as well as financial and employment assistance.

• Family Strengthening Services, Community-based Child Welfare Services will support efforts to reunify children with their families by providing visitation space and parent education in a more convenient location.

• Public Health Nursing will provide home visitation, health promotion, advocacy, outreach, and collaborative activities to enhance the quality of life for mothers and children.

• Behavioral Health Services: Improved access to wellness services will be offered, including community-based alcohol and drug treatment and mental health services for adults.

• Restorative Justice Services: Using TRUST (Treatment, Restorative justice, Uniting Supportive services with Trauma-informed care), Probation will support youth and adult clients through case planning, accountability and a restorative justice model that enhances community safety for all residents.

• Child Support: The Department of Child Support Services delivers family-centered services by collaborating with parents to establish and enforce court orders for financial support to support the long-term well-being of their children.

• Older Adults & People with Disabilities: Community-based services will be available to older adults, people with disabilities and their family members, to help keep residents safely in their homes and promote healthy and vital living.

• Workforce Development: Resources for job readiness and training will be available for adults and youth seeking employment and vocational services.

• Military & Veterans Services: Military, veterans, survivors, and dependents will receive community-based support services ranging from transition assistance, employment/career services, healthcare, legal, family and community services and benefits counseling.

• Community Services: Additional services provided by local community partners and providers will be available to support residents.

• Community Conferencing Space: Community partners will be able to access ample conference space in various configurations, equipped with TVs, speakers, and wireless capabilities.
